Go up in the world down in sunny Southsea. South Parade House is a one-time luxury Edwardian hotel, but now it’s your luxury hotel, one packed with all your favourite guests. Friends, family, quiet groups. Move in, spread out, sprawl in the movie room in front of the 105-inch screen, clatter the pool balls around, get the popcorn out.
Sleeping 12 in six bedrooms, South Parade House comes fully loaded for a funfest, including a resident jukebox ready to rock your socks off. Does it have subscription TV? Only to Sky Sports, Sky Movies, Apple TV, Now TV, Netflix and BT Sports. We think that covers every base, and every bedroom too.
Stream the wifi on BT Superfast, pick a fight on the Playstation 4 in the cinema room, let the kids loose on the books, toys, and games, watch TV in the tub. Eat out on the deck in the south-coast sunshine or around the 12-seat dining table. Butter the bread, pass the wine, toast family, friendship or both, and make a night of it.
Outside space doesn’t get much better than bright, breezy and buzzing Southsea. But if you want to soak up the sun while staying on the premises, the decked area should do the job nicely. Head out to the 8 seater hot tub and relax. Get the folks round the 12-seater table, get the barbie burning and fix up some steak and sausages. But watch those seagulls.
If you’re looking to catch a match or make merry with a movie, there aren’t many better places to do it than in the cinema room at South Parade House. Sprawl on the squishy U-shaped sofa that needs its own postcode, plonk your popcorn on the table, top up your glasses, and be mesmerised by the 105-inch wall screen.
If that’s just too much, escape to the living room, where your movies will be brought to life on a mere 60-inch screen. Do the TVs come with satellite or cable? Try subscriptions for Sky Sports, Sky Movies, Apple TV, Now TV, Netflix, and BT Sports.
You won’t miss a moment of a match or a movie here.
The entertainment doesn’t stop there. You’ll stream your broadband on BT Superfast and a games room sits at your disposal, complete with jukebox to rock your socks off whenever you fancy it, plus family games. Or make it a late one, top up your glasses and play a little eight-ball pool into the early hours.
Like a large screen for your gaming? Bring your Playstation 4 games alive on the giant screen in the cinema room. Black Ops zombies never seemed so real. That’s South Parade House: a place where everything’s a little larger than life and built on a far-grander, more-elegant scale. Settle back, pour another cocktail and drink it all in.
Book a boutique hotel and you’ll be bound by their mealtimes, their rules, and their menus. Stay at South Parade House and not only will you pick your own guests, but you’ll eat when you want, and what you want. And all prepared on the vast range cooker with electric and induction hobs.
It’s an island kitchen in cool whites and greys with marble countertop. So you can chat as you chop and dish up the goodies. If you’d rather be catered for, call us up and we’ll bring in the experts from Southsea Deli while you put your feet up with a Prosecco. They’ll even deal with the dishes afterwards.
Deliveries? Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat have it all in hand, and you’re in the foodie firing line for the Tesco, Waitrose and Asda vans. For fresh, local fare, pop out to the Hampshire Farmers’ Market every third Sunday. Gunwharf Quays is your destination for top chain meals from Five Guys and Frankie and Benny’s.
Just about every nationality of nosh is covered around here. You can’t beat British at The Florence Arms Gastro Pub or The Garden Southsea – just minutes away from the house. Go Turkish at Agora, enjoy Chinese at Noble House, and try Seafood at The Briny.
Bedrooms here are a byword for luxury. What will it be? Freestanding bath in the bedroom? Spa bath? Either way, you get to watch TV in the tub. And the beds? Sink deep and dream well.
The master bedroom offers a kingsize bed with delicious spa bath, while bedroom two is also a king with luxury en-suite shower and the option of an additional child bed. Bedroom three is also a king with en-suite shower, while bedroom four offers a kingsize with in-room bath.
On the third floor, bedroom five is a kingsize with en-suite shower and bedroom six provides a kingsize bed that converts to twins through the miracle of zip and link. There’s an en-suite bath and the chance of adding a child bed.
Kids love the seaside, so get them out among the shingle, the sand and the skinfuls of vitamin D. But if the entertainment has to be in-house, South Parade House won’t be found wanting.
British holidays never grow old, and the thrill of bagging the best bed and playing endless hide-and-seek endure – at least until the terrible teens. And with bedrooms on three floors, those games might never end.
If they do, direct them to the cinema room. Who needs Vue? With a 105-inch screen and acres of squishy sofa, it’s a case of getting the popcorn in and choosing between match and movie. Lost that battle? There’s a 60-inch screen in the living room.
You can add to that toys, books and games and eight-ball pool in the games room, content streaming on BT Superfast broadband and Playstation 4 in the cinema room. Bring your Black Ops and let your eyes boggle.
