Cute and quaint Thames-side living

The Boho Townhouse sits cute and quaint on Henley-on-Thames high street. Sleeping ten friends, family, hens and stags in four bedrooms, it sits pretty for riverside walks, messing about on boats, then coming home to a contemporary haven and room service from The Bull next door. What’s not to love?

A boutique bite of laid-back luxury

The Boho Townhouse is as cute as pecan pie. You’ll want to pick it up, pop it in your pocket and take it home. Sitting pretty on Henley-on-Thames’ high street, this is a house with hidden depths happy to sleep ten family, friends, hens and stags in four contemporary bedrooms. It’s a boutique bite of laid-back luxury.

As quaint and quirky as you’d expect a townhouse right next door to a shop called Bagatelle Toys to be, this is a place where you can take your foot off the pedal, relax, recharge and remember what matters in life. Eat, drink, ride, shoot, canoe, cook or be cooked for, put your feet up and put life on hold.

Get down to The Thames, mess about on boats, refresh in riverside pubs, walk the Chiltern hills, soak up the Regatta, then come home to room service from The Bull next door. At the Boho Townhouse, life moves seamlessly from one room to the other and from indoors to out in the time it takes the sun to pop its head out.

Drift from the second lounge into the courtyard and get the barbie going with steaks, sausages, bangers and burgers from the Thursday Charter Market and fine vintages from Woods’ Wines. Stream the BT Wi-Fi. Get together around two flatscreen TVs for movies, matches and everything in between.

Gardens and grounds

Life outdoors here might revolve around the river – the Thames path, the Chiltern hills, and the riverside pubs where willows weep into water festooned with little boats.

But the townhouse is all about flow, and life moves seamlessly through the bi-fold doors into the courtyard garden. Sip your morning coffee out there as you rustle the daily paper and plan your day ahead. In the evenings, fire up the barbie or order a meal from The Bull next door and eat al-fresco beneath the wisteria.

Living spaces

If the Thames path beckoned your boots, they’ll be dirty. Keep them in the garden boot room, also handy as a cloakroom and for bikes, buggies, wellies, golf gear and canoes. Muddy togs? There’s combi-washer in there, too. Muddy you? And a shower. From there, it’s just a short shuffle into the comfort of the second lounge.

The Boho Townhouse offers two living rooms, giving you breathing space if you want alternative viewing, or just to bag off with a book. You’ll find a smart TV in each, so don’t forget your Netflix password. And the BT Wi-Fi whistles around the place at a respectable pace.

Both living spaces come bedecked with eclectic artefacts and the vaulted glass ceiling in the rear lounge invites the sunshine in and offers light and space. Fling open the bi-fold doors and spill onto the courtyard for late-night drinks or morning coffee from the Nespresso machine.

Cooking and dining

The dining table will seat eight comfortably, but you might prefer the al-fresco appeal of the courtyard with its table and chairs beneath the climbers and the big skies. Get the coal barbecue going and the wine flowing and stay out for the summer. Get your meat from the Charter Market and the giggly stuff from Woods’ Wines.

Cook on the double oven with gas hob and keep the American-style fridge/freezer well stocked. Or just put your feet up and let us keep you fed. Call up our professional chefs for anything from a hog roast to a fully catered break. Or just order room service from The Bull pub next door.

Come in summer and dive face first into Eat! – a great foodie festival with live music. Or get fancy and head out to Orwell’s at Shiplake. Run by two Michelin-starred chefs, this is a sustainable dream. More than 75% of the fruit and veg is grown on site, they use local meat and keep bees for the honey they use in cocktails and desserts.

Open fires and original beams await at The Rising Sun, just a walk through the woods away at Witheridge Hill. Head out to The Unicorn for herby Oxfordshire sausages. Or how about The Crooked Billet, where everything’s made on site, from the stocks and sauces to the sorbet and famous fudge?

Bedrooms

The Boho Townhouse offers four comfortable, contemporary bedrooms across the first and second floors. Homely deep carpets and heavy curtains sit alongside original fireplaces and quirky, eclectic artwork in a tribute to offbeat luxury.

Bedroom one is a bright and airy room with a zip-and-link bed, allowing family flexibility of two singles or a super-king. Bedroom two is an elegant king-size. These two rooms share a family bathroom containing a bath with overhead shower and handheld shower attachment and separate shower cubicle.

Up on the second floor, bedroom three is a large, stylish room with a zip-and-link super-king bed, while bedroom four comes with an en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower and king-size bed. A sofabed in the living space completes the accommodation.
