Not only is Antlers Lodge dog-friendly, but it’s wheelchair-friendly, too, with everything mobility-impaired guests need on the ground floor and ramps to help with outdoor access. And all in the lap of luxury. Congregate and celebrate in the main living area with its chunky leather sofas, roaring fire and wall TV.
Bring your Netflix and Amazon Prime Video passwords to stream your favourite shows over the superfast broadband onto any of nine TVs. Get some sounds going over the Bluetooth speaker. Break out the board games for the kids. Chuck another log on the fire. At Antlers Lodge, time stands still while you tell it that that’s perfectly fine.
Cooking and dining
Love cooking? In proper country style, you’ve a four-oven Aga, gas hob, four fridges and three freezers to play with. Not so sure? Plumage Catering or Kevin from Wild Garlic Catering are on hand for a celebratory meal, hog roast, barbecue, buffet or fully catered break. Put your feet up and pour a Prosecco.
Shopping? Get your bits and pieces from Co-op Coedpoeth, Tesco in Ruthin and Wrexham, or Aldi, Sainsburys, Lidl and Morrisons in Wrexham. Keep the fizz and the fun going with wine from Majestic in Wrexham. Pick up special treats from the Rhug Estate in Corwen.
Eating out? Kick things off at the Boat Inn in Erbistock with oysters on ice and move on to aubergine moussaka or Lebanese lamb rump. Or choose Llangollen’s favourite eatery, The Three Eagles, a relaxed yet stylish bar and grill, known for delicious food, perfectly poured drinks and a vibrant, friendly atmosphere.
As the name suggests, the Corn Mill was once a mill and it retains its waterside location, with the outside decks sitting above the rapids. Or try slow-braised lamb ragout, Appleby’s Cheshire cheese, onion and potato pie or Korean-fried chicken burger at Pant-yr-Ochain in Gresford.
Bedrooms
Antlers Lodge sleeps 16 guests in seven bedrooms wrapped in 100%, 300 thread-count cotton bedding with thick, luxurious mattress toppers. On the edge of the Clwydian Range, there’s nothing between you and eight hours of bliss except the murmurings of Mother Nature. All rooms have private bathrooms and TVs.
On the first floor, bedroom one, the Lord Grousemoor Room sleeps two in a superking. Bedrooms two, the Woodcock Room, and three, the Partridge Room offer kingsize beds. Bedroom four, Pheasant 2, provides a superking, and bedroom five, Pheasant 1, is another superking that can convert to singles. A single bed is available in the lounge area of the Pheasant suite.
On the ground floor, bedroom six, Hare Room, is a superking or twin with an additional single, and the seventh bedroom, Deer, offers a kingsize bed and great disabled access.
